Vaginal Rejuvenation FAQs: When Is the Right Time for Votiva?

We don’t talk about it very often, but many women share the same feminine health concerns. The simple fact is that women have plenty of concerns about their vaginal health and appearance, but until now there haven’t been many options for women to fix any of those issues. At Body by Bloch in Glenview, IL we are proud to offer Votiva, a revolutionary vaginal rejuvenation treatment that is helping thousands of women nationwide.

Introducing Votiva!

What is Votiva? For many women, this is a catch-all treatment that can address both interior and exterior feminine health concerns at one time. This is a non-surgical treatment that utilizes the newest technology to improve vaginal laxity and dryness, as well as stress incontinenceThis treatment can also be used to boost sexual interest, something which begins to suffer with the onset of menopause.

How It Works

The technology used for this treatment is based on radiofrequency engineering, which uses heat from a small probe to stimulate the production of proteins deep within the sub-layers of skin and encourage the regrowth of vaginal mucosa. Radiofrequency technology is quickly becoming the gold standard in many cosmetic treatments, and with Votiva, that same technology can benefit your vaginal health.

This treatment can be used to treat external vaginal concerns, internal vaginal concerns, or both. Depending on your exact needs, the methods we use will either be FormaV or FractoraV. At your consultation, we will help you decide which treatment or which combination of treatments will best address your feminine health concerns.

FormaV

FormaV is a non-invasive treatment for tissue remodeling, used on both the exterior and the interior of the vagina. FormaV can help improve blood circulation and increase muscle relaxation, which can have the effect of tightening the appearance of the vagina and also making intercourse more comfortable.

FractoraV

FractoraV is a non-invasive treatment that addresses feminine health concerns for the exterior of the vagina, such as laxity and sexual pleasure. FractoraV can also be used to help improve stress incontinence issues.

Benefits of Votiva

This treatment is versatile enough that it can be used to correct multiple feminine health concerns at one time, but that isn’t the only benefit. As a non-invasive treatment, many women enjoy the fact that they can get right back to their lives immediately after treatment: even their more intimate lives. This is a quick, painless treatment that will help you restore your confidence.

What to Expect From Treatment

Many women are curious about what they can expect from a vaginal rejuvenation treatment. Unlike many other cosmetic treatments, vaginal rejuvenation is something that involves baring your most intimate parts, so it only makes sense that some women balk at treatments that could really help them. For this reason, we think it’s important that patients know what to expect from start to finish.

Consultation

Your first appointment is a consultation that will help us determine if you will benefit from this treatment. We will have an in-depth conversation about your feminine health concerns, including any laxity, dryness, or trouble feeling sensation or pleasure during intercourse. It is also important to tell us if you experience pain during sex, including pain associated with labial hypertrophy.

We will also gather information about your overall health, including a general medical history, any medications or supplements you have, and your lifestyle habits. We will need to know about your last period and your sexual activity as well as if you are currently pregnant. It can sometimes be the case that medications you are taking are contributing to a decreased sexual drive, which may mean we need to consult with your primary physician.

We may also need to conduct a physical examination of your feminine health concerns. It is possible we will request photographs to add to your medical file and to use as a reference to track your progress after treatment.

Pre-Treatment Guidelines

There are a few instructions you will be asked to follow before your appointment. The pre-treatment guidelines are important to make sure that your treatment is successful and comfortable. Some guidelines will include:

Treatment

One of our skilled technicians will administer the treatment for you in a private room. The treatment wand will be placed on or inserted into the vagina. Many women compare the overall treatment process to a pap smear combined with a deep heating sensation.

This treatment does not require any anesthesia or numbing cream. Most patients don’t experience any discomfort during treatment. We will periodically ask about your comfort level during the treatment to adjust the heat settings if necessary. This treatment generally takes about 20 minutes to complete start to finish.

Post-Treatment Guidelines

We will give you a few post-treatment guidelines to follow after your treatment. Some of these guidelines are meant to assist in your comfort during recovery.

We may give you instructions on how to apply topical creams we prescribe to you. We may also give you additional advice on which of your daily activities are too strenuous on the day of your appointment.

Recovery

There is no downtime for this treatment. After treatment is complete, you are free to return to work or errands with very little restrictions. Some women experience some swelling or redness at the treatment site, but these are temporary side effects that fade 1 to 3 days after treatment. During your recovery, it is important to keep the treated area moisturized, such as with coconut oil.

Vaginal Rejuvenation FAQs

Many women considering this vaginal rejuvenation treatment share the same questions. If you need additional information, our expert staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have. A few frequently asked questions about this treatment include:

When Is the Right Time for Votiva?

The right time for this treatment would be at any point of your life during which you are not fully confident in the appearance or function of your vagina. If you think you need vaginal rejuvenation, you should have this treatment. There is nothing wrong with wanting to look and feel your best.

As to the exact timing of when you should get this treatment, you should plan a vaginal rejuvenation around your reproductive cycle. It is best to have this treatment when you are not pregnant and right after your period ends. It is also ideal to have this treatment when you are not at risk of STD, yeast infection, or bladder infection.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

Most patients need 3 to 5 consecutive treatment sessions to achieve the desired results. The amount of treatment sessions you need will depend on your exact needs and the degree of your feminine health concerns. For example, if your concerns include mild external laxity, then you may only need 1 or 2 sessions. If you have concerns about internal laxity or atrophy, you may need 3 or 4 sessions. We will help you determine how many sessions you will need to achieve your desired results.

When Will I See Results?

Many women report seeing results in as little as 1 treatment session. The speed at which your results appear have to do with how well your body responds to the treatment. Radiofrequency treatments tend to work more quickly on women who have a normal or higher rate of natural collagen production, while women who have a slowed production tend to need more sessions and time to see results.

Your results may also depend on your age, any medications you might be taking, and any additional treatments, such as hormone therapy, that might contribute to expected results.

Is Votiva Safe?

This treatment is approved by the FDA for vaginal rejuvenation, which includes treating stress urinary incontinence, vaginal laxity, and decreased sexual sensitivity. Treatments cleared by the FDA undergo rigorous clinical trials and testing to determine the efficacy of the treatments. This treatment is unique in that it is a safe alternative to surgical vaginal rejuvenation techniques, such as labiaplasty. Our staff will be glad to go over any health and safety questions you may have.

What Causes Vaginal Health Concerns?

There can be many underlying causes for your vaginal health concerns. The two main causes for changes in vaginal health are hormonal fluctuations and childbirth. Hormonal changes associated with aging often lead to physical side effects, such as a thinning of vaginal tissue, vaginal dryness, and a decrease in sexual activity.

Childbirth can also affect vaginal health, as the tissues and muscles of the vagina stretch during childbirth, which can also cause a loss of sensation and a dropping of the pelvic wall. These causes for vaginal health concerns are common to women at any point in life.

Can This Treatment Replace Hormone Therapy?

Yes. Some women choose a non-surgical vaginal rejuvenation treatment to address the issues that are caused by hormonal changes instead of using bioidentical hormone therapy. Unlike bioidentical hormone therapy, there are very few unintended side effects associated with this type of treatment.

Am I a Good Candidate?

This treatment is ideal for many women experiencing a wide range of feminine health concerns. There are no age restrictions for this treatment as concerns about vaginal health and appearance are experienced by women of all ages. You may be a good candidate for this treatment if you want to:
